FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Pineau De Re has a good record at this course with a win and a second placing under his belt. The French-bred is going chasing pretty late in the day, at the age of nine, but the son of Maresca Sorrento still has little enough mileage on the clock. Philip Fenton said of his useful three-time winner back in January: "He will go over fences at some stage but we felt that we'd do better over hurdles this season. He has had his problems and he needs soft ground. The engine is still there." A couple of other chase debutants, Local Celebrity and Munsaab are obvious contenders too, but given that he has a point-to-point effort to his name, the one we'll side with is SPRING HEELED. Jim Culloty has always viewed his five-year-old as a chaser in the making. The Churchtown-handler has also been at pains to point out that Spring Heeled would appreciate better ground and hopefully he'll encounter a decent surface, which seems likely given the forecast and the fact that this is the opener on the programme. On his best, Jim Will Fix It would have a big chance. Crucially he has fencing experience too (not always fluent) and hopefully the market can help with regard to his prospects now.
