FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Much could depend on how Clancy Strand goes in the betting here. The New Zealand-bred son of Montjeu is rated 101 over hurdles whilst he competes in this sphere from a mark of 85. With the dual hurdle winner only saddled with ten stone four in this event, Clancy Strand's burden is further lightened by Jody McGarvey claiming 4Ibs and really if the betting is positive he's not easy to look beyond. Venture Lazarus was a bit unlucky at Galway last time, with a bad last fence mistake, and with Carlow-native Micheal Nolan making the trip from cross-channel to ride, his chance is respected. Annacarton ran well when runner-up here two weeks ago and Jimmy Mangan's runner has a bit of a chance now dropping back in distance. However most of these are pretty exposed at this stage and a chance is taken on EDMUNDO (has definite prospects on his best form). He won a point-to-point when part of a double for Wexford handler, John Moran, at Milltown, last November. Still only six, Edmundo's best days should still be in front of him and the subsequent track winners, Millers Reef and Jupitor were behind him in that point-to-point. Richie Rath trains Edmundo and he has employed his fellow Wexford man, the talented Ben Dalton, for the ride. It should be noted that Moran said after Edmundo's point win: "He has broken our hearts at times with niggling injuries. He has loads of ability."
