FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - There wouldn't appear to be a whole lot of strength in depth here and we'll go with the obvious one in CHU CHU THOMAS. A fortnight back over the course and distance, the lightly-raced Blueprint gelding was a lucky winner when Speed Dial fell at the last when looking home and hosed. However, that was still a commendable effort from Chu Chu Thomas when one considers that he's had his problems and it should also be noted that there was plenty of market confidence behind him on that occasion. The selection, a nine-year-old, found plenty for pressure that day and you'd imagine that there could well be more to come – enough perhaps to cope with a 7Ib rise in the ratings. Given that all three of his wins have come at Powerstown Park, Jacks Island is respected. Letterofapproval won a bumper in his time and he'd have to enter calculations now particularly if the market gave any encouragement as he makes his handicap bow. The other one principally of note is Short Grass as he is now tried in blinkers for the first time.
