FormscanBy Donal Murphy - This contest has thrown up some big priced winners down through the years and a chance is taken on HAROLD'S CROSS to add his name to the roll of honour. The Christy Roche trained gelding won three handicap chases in-a-row in 2011 and clearly has plenty of ability. He recorded his last victory in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse in November of 2011 and then he finished a fine second behind Askthemaster over the course last St Stephen's Day. Since that performance his form has been moderate but he hinted at a return to his best when he finished a good second behind Quietly Fancied in a three mile handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time out. It looks as if connections have had this race in mind for the son of Galileo for quite some time and carrying a handy weight he should go close. With Tony McCoy booked to ride Colbert Station can be expected to run a big race for trainer Ted Walsh while Like Your Style is yet another JP McManus owned runner who can be expected to go close. Jane Mangan takes a valuable seven pound off top weight Rathlin and it will be interesting to see how he goes on his handicap debut while Glam Gerry, By The Hour and Farrells Fancy are others to consider.
