FormscanBy Donal Murphy - Top class renewal of this Christmas Festival highlight and it is sure to be a fascinating contest. FLEMENSTAR has been flawless in his two starts this season and he is the one they all have to beat. The 7yo son of Flemensfirth has yet to be tried over three miles on the racecourse but he did win a point-to-point earlier in his career and his trainer Peter Casey is confident that he will have no problem with the step up in trip. Sir Des Champs was beaten on his seasonal reappearance by the selection at Punchestown last time out over 2m 4f. The Willie Mullins trained gelding was unbeaten over fences up until then and the top class French bred gelding can be expected to give the selection the most to do. He will be more at home over the trip of three miles and is sure to come on from the run at Punchestown. Hidden Cyclone is perhaps the dark horse. The son of Stowaway has been a model of consistency so far in his career and the 7yo gelding should be right in the frame at the business end of the race. Tidal Bay ran a cracker in the Hennessy at Newbury under top weight and his trainer Paul Nicholls wouldn't be sending him over if he didn't think he could win. The 11yo gelding is sure to give a good account of himself with Ruby Walsh in the saddle. Wearing cheekpieces for the first time could spark a revival in form for Quito De La Roque while it will be interesting to see how 2010 winner Pandorama fares on his first start since March 2011.
