FormscanBy Donal Murphy - LICKLIGHTER might be able to win this despite the lack of a recent outing. The son of Brian Boru fell here in August of 2016 when sent off an 11/10 favourite. He returned to action at the Co Mayo venue in July of last year, and went down by just a head to Top Othe Ra. That one has since won three times, claiming valuable contests at Galway, Down Royal, and Punchestown. Hurricane Volta was beaten by just half a length on his second start for Gordon Elliott at Tramore last month, and he looks to have strong claims. Punches Cross was a bit disappointing on his debut over flights at Clonmel, but an improved performance is likely from him now, while others for the shortlist are Mary Sun, Balkalin (on debut for Emmet Mullins), Niven, and Bensachuine.
