FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - The disappointments of earlier in the week were put aside on Thursday for the Willie Mullins team,and DJAKADAM could finally deliver a Gold Cup for the record breaking trainer.Backed again by Timico, this is the race that all in the game want on their CV,and it simply won't do for a handler of Mullins' calibre to let it evade his capture.There's a big team at Closutton,and Mullins' wife Jackie was reportedly instrumental in Djakadam coming here fresh having not run since Christmas.The Irish Gold Cup has fallen the way of the County Carlow-based outfit many times.This year that was bypassed with Djakadam as all roads led to Cheltenham for the eight-year-old.Of course the Rich and Susannah Ricci-owned gelding has already finished second here twice.The point has been made more than once that Djakadam's journey mirrors that of 1994 hero,The Fellow.It was actually at the fourth attempt,aged nine,that The Fellow eventually put his name on the roll of honour,after two seconds and a fourth placing.In that context Djakadam still has time on his side but now is seen as the day for him to deliver in many quarters.It'll be interesting to see if the market conveys similar sentiments.Champagne West,Outlander and Sizing John make for a formidable Irish challenge overall,but of course Colin Tizzard holds an enviable hand,even in Thistlecrack's absence,with Cue Card and Native River.
