FormscanBy Alan Magee - MICK JAZZ is an interesting addition to the Gordon Elliott yard. The French import showed promise in juvenile hurdles for Harry Fry and, following a lay-off of over ten months, failed to live up to expectations when sent off joint favourite for the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham. Elliott purchased the lightly-raced five-year-old for 27,000 at Doncaster in August, and this certainly represents a drop in class. It will be interesting to see how strong he is in the market. There was a year gap from Criminate’s bumper debut to his only subsequent start over hurdles at Punchestown recently. The Milan gelding was only headed approaching the last, and the form received a boost of sorts when the winner Labaik readily followed up in a charity race at Leopardstown last Sunday. Allenstown Kid has a number of eye-catching pieces of form including a creditable second to Yorkhill in a point-to-point and when third to Gurteen and De Plotting Shed in a Navan maiden hurdle earlier this year. Logical Song was placed over hurdles in France and had just relinquished the lead when falling three out on his chase debut at the Killarney July meeting. Russellstown finished well when going close over course and distance last month but subsequently weakened up the final hill at Downpatrick.
