FormscanBy Tom Weekes - SPIRIT QUARTZ has been a very smart performer throughout his career and might be able to defy top weight and win here. He joined a new yard this year and seems to have retained plenty of his old speed, and might be able to confirm recent Curragh form with Monsieur Joe (seventh) and Yulong Baobei (ninth). Monsieur Joe has himself proven a smart sprinter for much of his career and is closely matched with the selection and should go well here, despite him now being a ten year old. Yulong Baobei was well held on that three year old debut run but did look potentially smart as a juvenile. Ostatnia is fairly capable but lacks a gear at a high level while Hit The Bid has disappointed since last August’s Group 3 win and needs to show more. Misty Birnam is a South African import who was third on his latest start in a Group 1 last July but his form is over 7f/1m and is best watched on Irish debut here.
