FormscanBy Alan Magee - KARALEE and Lieutenant Colonel were only separated by a head when filling the minor places behind Jezki at Leopardstown earlier this month, and there may not be much to choose between the pair again here. The selection put a number of disappointments this season behind her with that latest effort and, if coming forward again, may hold the edge. She wasn’t helped by a bump from the winner early in the straight. Lieutenant Colonel won twice at Grade 1 level for Sandra Hughes including the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle but is without a win in nearly 18 months. Gordon Elliott has tried different headgear in an effort to rekindle the spark, and that latest run over 2m2f at Leopardstown was certainly a step in the right direction. The other pair appear to have a bit to find.
