FormscanBy Mark Nunan - A competitive Group 2 and Frankie Dettori, out of luck at Killarney on Wednesday, might reward his loyal supporters on Hey Gaman. James Tate’s four-year-old almost won the French Guineas last term, and is on a roll this summer after stakes victories at Leicester and ParisLongchamp. This trip seems to be ideal. Safe Voyage is another 7f specialist and has risen through the grades at Haydock Park this season. Any easing of the ground will be a big plus for him. Obviously last year’s Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Romanised will be a leading fancy. He’s without a win since his big day here last May, but ran well in the Lockinge and even better in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, where the gaps didn’t quite come when Billy Lee wanted them. The form of that race is working out, but Ken Condon will want the ground to stay good or better for him. Mr Lupton won the Greenlands here in May but may be best with a bigger gap between races, while one wouldn’t dissuade anyone from an each-way play on Gordon Lord Byron, twice a previous winner of this and still running perfectly creditably this season at the age of ten.
