FormscanBy Tom Weekes - CALIFANTE has plenty going for her in a race where the bottom four horses effectively race from out of the handicap, albeit ranging from just one to four pounds. She was once rated 99 in Britain and made an encouraging start for her current connections in a similar Rated Race here last month, under her 7lbs claimer. She has fallen down the ratings to her current mark and while the drop back to seven furlongs shouldn't inconvenience, the main concern is she has won just once in her previous 17 starts. Maontri is interesting having been raised 15lbs for last week's win. She was clearly much better than that grade and could well count in this type of contest but the drop back in trip is something of an unknown. Cool Athlete is just 1lbs 'wrong' but is helped by his rider's claim and is a fairly dependable type while Mountain Coral ended a long losing streak recently but is still 2lbs wrong. Reckless Lad has been progressing but is 4lbs wrong while The Black Devil (2lbs wrong) refused to enter the stalls latest but has sound place claims on best form.
