FormscanBy Alan Magee - It’s not often you get a maximum field lining up for a Listed race but the prospect of some valuable black type has lured a big entry for this mile event. A hugely competitive contest is in store, and perhaps COLOUR BLUE can land the spoils. Willie McCreery’s charge has proved a model of consistency winning five times, and enjoyed a massive pay-day last month when storming home to take the Sovereign Path Handicap on Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown. She’s backed that up with another creditable effort at Ascot. Billy Lee’s mount is best at seven furlongs but has won over an extended mile, and her low draw is another positive. Red Box heads a three-strong English challenge, and she was awarded a Listed race in the stewards’ room over this trip at Ascot in July. The selection’s stablemate Erysimum is the only other to already win in this grade having made all and held on in game fashion to land the Ruby Stakes at Killarney in August. Kadra led home a 1-2-3 for the Halford yard when beating Indrahar and Suvenna in a handicap over seven furlongs here earlier this month.
