FormscanBy Gary Carson - BECTIVE sets a good standard here and looks the one they have to beat. He ran really well off his mark of 84 in a Curragh nursery last time and a repeat that may well be good enough to see him open his account now. The step up to seven here shouldn't be a problem. His only other attempt at this trip wasn't ideal as he clipped heels and stumbled in running but he got a stiff six at the Curragh well last time. Gino Severini ran a solid race to finish fourth in a decent looking Curragh maiden last month. That was a step forward from his debut run at Leopardstown and there may be more to come. John Honeyman should surely improve from his debut run at the Curragh when he faded in the closing stages to finish fifth to Arcada in a strong maiden. Given some progression he looks a threat. Thomas O'Malley shaped with some promise when running on into third behind Psychedelic Funk at Naas on his debut but that was back in April and his absence since is a slight worry. Ambassadorial is an interesting debutant, in the Godolphin colours, for Michael Halford and market moves should be noted.
