FormscanBy Alan Magee - LAID BACK LUKE gets the vote. The selection has been a shade disappointing since making all for an impressive debut under rules in a Thurles bumper nearly two years ago. However he did add to that tally when again adopting forcing tactics in a Clonmel maiden hurdle last spring, and has shown promise since switched to fences recently. Sheila Lavery’s charge had Motown Bob behind when staying on well behind Powersbomb at Clonmel, and probably found the trip too far at Punchestown last time. The opposition here is not as strong, and this intermediate distance should be ideal. Catalaunian Fields was let down by his jumping on a number of occasions but got things right at Tramore last time. He’s versatile trip wise having also won a three-mile maiden hurdle at Bellewstown. Point-to-point winner Bringerofthedawn beat Duke Cass in a heavy ground maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe last year, and has since filled the runner-up spot a couple of times in beginners chases.
