FormscanBy Tom Weekes - TIN SOLDIER is a hopeful choice to win on Irish debut and following a long layoff. He is difficult to assess and while he failed to win in 14 starts in his native France, was campaigned at a high level and picked up some E80,000 in prizemoney. He is an experienced performer, so it is surely worrying that he hasn’t run since June 2015, but doesn’t carry a winners’ penalty here and is likely to be ready for his comeback. In June 2015, he contested a Grade 1 at Auteuil and while well held in eighth, finished ahead of Mullins’ Petite Parisienne, who was ninth, and has shown solid ability on occasions, albeit over a shorter trip. Call The Taxie looks a dour stayer and has been running well. He ran well in a Graded race at limerick over Christmas and his rider is able to claim 5lbs today, which is a help. He is no star but stays well. Mighty Stowaway has himself shaped like a stayer and while his jumping can be a little sketchy, he has shown a fairly sound level of ability and can figure. Champagne Classic also steps up in trip but isn’t helped by his winners’ penalty while Alkaa Lion was narrowly beaten in what looks a lesser maiden hurdle than this at Cork latest. Kilcrea Bridge possibly needs to improve but also steps up in trip while Art Of Supremacy also needs to improve on hist first attempt at this trip.
