FormscanBy Alan Magee - SANIBEL ISLAND and Golden Poet clash for the second time in the space of a fortnight, and the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding is taken to come out on top again. There were seven lengths between the pair when filling the minor places behind the highly regarded Aspen Colorado on the final day of the Listowel Festival. That gap was exaggerated by Golden Poet’s blunder at the penultimate flight but the selection had already shown his ability to handle varying ground conditions, and the going was on the fast side when he landed a bumper at Ballinrobe earlier in the summer. Golden Poet also has a good ground bumper win to his credit at Kilbeggan in June, and should be winning over hurdles soon. The remainder with form appear fairly modest although Veronica’s Napkin did show a bit at Roscommon last time. A number of nicely bred newcomers should be noted in the market including the Jessica Harrington-trained pair L’andana and Sizing Julie.
