FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Today's trip is a little sharp for PRESENTING PERCY but he may still prove good enough to win, as he receives weight. Last season's Pertemps Final winner has taken well to fences and was an impressive winner of the Galmoy Hurdle last month. He lacks chase experience but is proven on testing ground, is open to plenty more improvement and receives 7lbs from Our Duke. Our Duke himself has trip issues, having proven himself a high class staying chaser when winning the Irish National last year. He returned to form in the Irish Gold Cup latest, when running well. A bad mistake at the second last fence cost him all chance then and while he did run on nicely late-on, might possibly be more inconvenienced by today's trip than PRESENTING PERCY. One interesting aspect to both horses is the fact OUR DUKE won the Irish National, by 14L, from a rating of 153 while PRESENTING PERCY won over that same course and distance, albeit in a much lesser handicap, by 11L from a rating of 145, meaning there may not be much between the pair today, with the 7lbs weight differential. Valseur Lido is a former Grade 1 winner and while he seems to be back to form recently following an injury layoff, might need to improve to win today. A Toi Phil is a solid performer outside of Grade 1 level and while a winner at Thurles latest, probably needs a career best to win today. Ballycasey hasn't been fully himself on his most recent starts and might struggle to win today.
