FormscanBy Alan Magee - SPANISH STEPS appears to have found a good opportunity to get off the mark. The son of Galileo still holds an Irish Derby entry, and is steadily improving with each outing. He was odds-on when beaten by Harrana at Cork last Sunday but there was a nine-length gap back to the third, and a reproduction of that run may be good enough. Harrana’s trainer Dermot Weld is now represented by Switch In Time. The Moyglare home-bred is also by the all-conquering Galileo, and gained experience of this course and distance last month. She filled third spot behind Modern Approach, and the runner-up (Lovemenot) went one better at Limerick on Friday. Vienna Circle showed promise on her debut when finishing well at Listowel earlier this month, and looks sure to progress from that outing.
