FormscanBy Gary Carson - GENERAL PRINCIPLE has been knocking on the door and looks the safest bet here in a tricky looking contest. He has been placed in three decent beginners chases to date and looks good enough to open his account now. The form of his Cork runner-up effort looks solid despite the winner having been 33/1. The fourth placed Jett chased home Yorkhill subsequently in Grade 3 company while the third-placed Blazer had been runner-up at Fairyhouse previously when he had one of today’s rivals, Mall Dini in behind. Mall Dini has been turned over at a short price on his last couple of outings, albeit in decent races. The drop to two miles looks a bit of a worry for him. The Willie Mullins-trained pair deserve plenty of respect given their hurdles ratings. Dicosimo needs to bounce back after a disappointing chase debut at Limerick. It’s interesting that Ruby Walsh sides with him. Great Field hasn’t been seen since pulling up in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham last season. He had been very impressive on his Irish debut at Leopardstown previously and would appear a bit of a dark horse here.
