The Willie Mullins-trained gelding ran a cracker last time when beating all bar Woodland Opera in a valuable novice handicap chase at the Punchestown Festival. The selection has not raced over hurdles in the past 12 months but ran well off a mark of 150 in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham in 2016, and a reproduction of that form should be more than good enough here. Plinth is a former winner of the Grade 2 Istabraq Hurdle at Tipperary, and recorded the latest of eight career wins at Kilbeggan last summer. He reappears here off the back of a seven-month break. Flaxen Flare won the Fred Winter Winter at Cheltenham earlier in his career but was sidelined for nearly two years until a couple of outings this spring.
