FormscanBy Donal Murphy - I'll take a bit of a chance here on THE WINKLER. The grey gelding is a three time course winner, and beat Sandymount Duke here in May of last year. He was third on his handicap debut over fences at Tipperary last month, and since finished eighth in the Galway Blazers behind Riviera Sun. He was only beaten by twelve lengths at Ballybrit, and had plenty of useful sorts behind him. He will carry just nine stone seven here with Andrew Ring taking three pounds off, and he should give a good account of himself. The Gatechecker finished ahead of the selection at Tipperary and Galway, and he is given second preference. He is tried in blinkers for the first time now, and looks well-capable of landing a contest of this quality. Delegate got off the mark over fences at Sligo earlier this month, and he looks to have solid claims with Jack Kennedy aboard. Galway winner Neverushacon is another leading contender, while it'll be interesting to see how Supreme Vinnie fares with just nine stone ten on his back.
