FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - LAST ENCOUNTER could well show himself to be no back number here, on his first handicap start. The hope would be that the injury lay-offs he's endured, haven't blunted his ability, and when one considers that Mag Mullins' gelding was a course Grade 1 novice hurdle runner-up, then a mark of 118 has to be viewed as attractive. Kilbeggan in the summer probably wasn't likely to see Last Encounter to best effect, though those that made him favourite when well-beat on August 12th (finished lame) mightn't be so forgiving. However, as a consequence he's got a lovely racing weight in a valuable heat such as this, and his reappearance on Thyestes Day at Gowran was satisfactory. Watch the market with regard to some of the rest of them, but Fitzhenry, with Barry Geraghty up, and cheek-pieces deployed for the first-time, is obviously a big danger to all.
