FormscanBy Alan Magee - Willie Mullins is always to be feared with a newcomer in bumpers and CASTLEBAWN WEST may provide the Closutton maestro with yet another success. The champion trainer won both bumpers last weekend at Punchestown and Fairyhouse, and this Westerner gelding was purchased for 24,000 as a three-year-old at the Goffs Land Rover Sale. The dam won six times over hurdles and the pedigree traces back to Foxchapel King. Bugsy Siegel shaped well on debut at Fairyhouse when third to Dunvegan, whose form ties in with smart types like Rapid Escape and Hollowgraphic. He should progress from that experience and looks capable of a modest bumper success. Diamond Turf only gave best close home on his debut under rules at the Limerick Christmas meeting, while Bennaway was soundly beaten in mid-division on both hurdle outings to-date including behind the selection’s stablemate Getabird at Punchestown.
