FormscanBy Alan Magee - ON THE FRINGE is a legend in the hunter chase brigade with an impeccable CV that includes the big treble of Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown in the past two seasons. The Enda Bolger-trained veteran is bidding to land this race for the sixth time, having opened his account as a five-year-old back in 2010. He made a promising return this term when runner-up to Foxrock at Leopardstown but things haven’t gone to plan since. He kept on well up the hill at Cheltenham when fourth to Pacha Du Polder but an uncharacteristic mistake at the Chair put paid to his chance at Aintree. He finished just ahead of Balnaslow at Cheltenham, and that rival since went close at Aintree. Minella For Value also ran well at Cheltenham and has since been in good form between the flags, while Maple Mons is a prolific point-to-point winner and readily won the Joseph O’Reilly at Fairyhouse last week.
