FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - If you're like me, you flicked down through these runners with Minsk hasn't much to beat playing in your brain, until you came upon number eleven, GLENS MELODY. From a great family, Glens Melody is out of the nine time winner, Glens Music, she's a sister to useful stablemate Ceol Rua and a half-sister to Thursday's Clonmel scorer, Quietly Fancied. Three from three in bumpers, Glens Melody has looked a bit special, with Willie Mullins saying at one stage last year: "She's as good a mare as we've run this year. She's a sister to Ceol Rua and I'd say she's at least as good as her." Patrick Mullins commented after she won at Tipperary: "She's very special. She has an unbelievable turn of foot. She has it all and the sky's the limit for her." In a recent stable tour Willie Mullins remarked: "She's unbeaten in bumpers for us, winning three in a row, and has done everything right so far. Ready to start over hurdles and will turn up in a maiden soon. She's on to look forward to." Some of the press, particularly across the Irish Sea, seem to be obsessed with writing about Minsk. It's justifiable that there is a fair level of interest in the smart son of Dalakhani. However I'd take the mare, in receipt of 7Ibs and racing over two and a half miles, to have his measure on this occasion.
