FormscanBy Donal Murphy - RAPID ESCAPE won what looked a strong bumper at Down Royal earlier this month, and he should be able to follow-up now. The Gordon Elliott trained son of Doyen impressed when winning a point-to-point on debut at Tinahely in February, and looks a horse of some potential. Elliott said of the chestnut gelding in a Racing Post stable tour on October 16th: "We didn't hide how much we liked him before he ran in the Land Rover bumper at Punchestown and even though he was beaten we still think a lot of him. He probably should have won that if I'm being honest because he was too far out of his ground and he came home very well. We'll probably start him off in a bumper at Down Royal and take it from there with him, but we like him." Derek O'Connor has been booked to ride Punches Cross. This son of Stowaway cost E38,000 as a three-year-old, and he will need to be pretty smart to win this on debut. The Holy One won a point-to-point for Michael Goff in April, and it'll be interesting to see how he fares on his debut for Jessica Harrington and owner David Bobbett. The other one worth a mention is Speirling. He put in a decent performance to finish tenth on his debut at the Punchestown Festival in April, and he can be expected to come on plenty for that run.
