FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - CADUCEUS has every chance of defying top-weight here. Pat Hughes' horses are obviously in reasonable order and he of course saddled a winner and a second at Wexford on Wednesday with Speed Dial and Our Native Land. Tim Carroll, aboard that pair, is also on Caduceus, and his five pound claim is a big help as it brings the selection's burden down to a manageable eleven stone two. The Luso gelding, in possession of a stout pedigree, has been hurdling of late, and he showed himself to be in good form when second at Galway at the end of October. This is likely to be a pretty taxing examination of stamina and that should suit the course winner well. Third in the Troytown, Glenquest could well emerge as the biggest danger and he is much respected. Mr Eko is equipped with a tongue-strap for the first time and this fellow, a good servant to connections, has won around here before, so he should at least challenge for a place in the frame. It would hardly be a surprise if any of the eight of these triumphed in reality, so each-way players could well look towards those at double-figure prices with some cause for optimism.
