FormscanBy Tom Weekes - This has the potential to be an excellent spectacle with last month's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner AL BOUM PHOTO, the pick, lining up against Aintree Betway Bowl Chase winner Kemboy, with other high class horses also in the line-up. AL BOUM PHOTO is selected on the basis he is clearly a top class performer, is a consistent horse who now comes here fresh having skipped the Aintree Festival. He likes an ease and today's 'yielding' ground should be fine for him and he will have no problems dropping back to 3m here. Kemboy unseated rider at the first fence in that Gold Cup last month but either side of that unfortunate incident, showed top class ability in winning at Leopardstown and Aintree. He is another proven Grade 1 type but is nonetheless quirky, in that he races very keen and is not always foot-perfect in his jumping (he jumped slightly to his right at Aintree) and, from a tipping point of view, is not as dependable and straightforward as AL BOUM PHOTO, who may have too much class in any case. Another Willie Mullins inmate Bellshill won this race last year and is another high class horse with obvious claims. Nothing went right when he pulled up early in last month's Gold Cup and while his win in the Irish Gold Cup was gained in unusual circumstances (just four ran on fast ground) and he was beaten 8L by Kemboy at Christmas, it is well worth remembering his previous form. He was at his very best in winning this same race last year and while he has a little to prove today, is capable of getting involved at the business end. Monalee is a Grade 1 winning novice chaser who finished 7.5L second to Kemboy at Christmas. He skipped the Gold Cup at Cheltenham in favour of the Ryanair Chase where he ran another solid race finishing fourth, but needs a career best to win today, albeit he may be better suited by this return to three miles. Snow Falcon disappointed at Fairyhouse recently and should struggle to win this fiercely competitive race.
