FormscanBy Michael Graham - A decent race in prospect. PUMBAA might represent a touch of value. Colin Bowe's charge will thoroughly relish the very testing conditions. Of his five career victories, three have come on heavy going. He ran a decent enough race when second in a valuable steeplechase at Listowel in mid-September (on soft to heavy). Draycott Place also contested that race and he unseated at the penultimate flight when well in contention. Although he has performed well on soft to heavy ground, his form on heavy isn't as good so he is opposed. The Black Russian is a former hurdle winner here and hacked up in a Ballinrobe handicap hurdle last week. That victory came on soft ground (soft to heavy in places) and afterwards his trainer Fergus Hanley revealed that he was worried about heavy being in the going description and that he would go for a chase here if it isn't too heavy. If he is in the same rude health as last week, he could take all the beating but conditions might impact on his chances. Ballyfinboy won this last year but definitely doesn't want it heavy.
