FormscanBy Tom Weekes - KANSAS CITY CHIEF has solid claims of gaining a maiden hurdles win here, having shown useful chase form in the recent past. His 98 rating was gained prior to his venture over fences in 2016, in which time his chase rating has climbed to 130, culminating with his 3m1f win at Punchestown in December. The lack of a recent outing is a small concern but he is likely to have been readied for this type of staying handicap hurdle and has a feather weight here. Sutton Manor has been running consistently well in recent times and while he has a big weight, is helped by his rider’s useful 5lbs claim. Go It Alone was well enough held in second latest but nonetheless looks the type to continue progressing up the ladder over this type of trip. Venitien De Mai is another proven stayer and is certainly interesting. He competes from a 15lbs lower mark than over fences and is the dark horse in that he competes in his first handicap hurdle here, having won a maiden hurdle when last seen over hurdles in March 2015. Davy Russell is an interesting booking for Our Vinnie but he is possibly best watched from his high weight, with plenty dangers in the field.
