FormscanBy Gary Carson - MONKSLAND got a nice tune-up for this when third in the charity race under Paul Carberry last week and he looks the pick here. The conditions mean just one of the field has to carry a penalty as most of them have done recent winning over fences. Monksland switched back to hurdles last season after failing to convince in his jumping over fences and definitely looks more at home over timber. He ran a cracker in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham when finishing fourth and that showed he still had plenty of offer over hurdles. Lieutenant Colonel, a former dual Grade One winner over hurdles, disappointed on his return to action over fences at Limerick earlier in the month and would need to leave that run behind. His new stable-mate Charmix is an interesting runner making his first start for Gordon Elliott. He showed some smart form in novice chases for Harry Fry last season. Cantlow used the same warm-up method last season before a cross-country campaign and will surely improve from this run.
