FormscanBy Donal Murphy - A top class renewal of this Grade 3 contest, with ALPHA DES OBEAUX the stand out name. The Mouse Morris trained six-year-old won a point-to-point on his debut back in 2014, and since proved himself at the highest level over flights. He won the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran last January, before filling the runner-up spot in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. He makes his racecourse debut over fences now, and is already as short as 7/1 for the RSA Chase at next year's Cheltenham Festival. Westerner Lady looks his biggest danger. She has won her last five, and has been flawless since switching to the larger obstacles. Ruby Walsh again takes the ride on the daughter of Westerner, and she can be expected to go close. Sandymount Duke is another leading contender. He was placed in a Grade 1 over flights at the Punchestown Festival in May, and has since ran three times over fences, winning his last two. He takes a step-up in class now, and he should give a good account of himself with Robbie Power in the saddle. Full Cry has also won his last two, but it will come as a surprise if can complete the hat-trick here. Tocororo is due to run at Gowran on Saturday so it's unlikely that she will turn up for this.
