The son of Deep Impact filled the runner-up spot behind Change Of Velocity at Gowran Park, and that form was handsomely advertised in the Ulster Derby at Down Royal last Saturday. A previous disappointment at the Curragh is easily explained by a slipped saddle, and he made virtually all at Limerick last time over a mile going right away inside the final furlong. Elleval is without a win in over four years but has put in some creditable efforts including last year in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, and went close in a couple of decent handicaps at Dundalk before Christmas. He’ll probably be held up, and the same tactics are likely with Masucci who overcame trouble in running to score at Leopardstown last week. Aussie Valentina is normally most effective with some ease but took advantage of a slight drop in the ratings at Leopardstown, and Tom Sherry keeps the ride.
