FormscanBy Mark Nunan - WESTMEAD hadn’t shown a lot in a point-to-point and a bumper before running a huge race at 66/1 when touched off in his first run over hurdles at Killarney. He still looked quite green when going down by just a neck to the favourite Whenurgoodurgood, who had been runner-up at Bellewstown the time before, and Joseph O’Brien’s bumper winner Baboin was behind him in third. Prunella Dobbs’ four-year-old should have a nice bit of improvement in him. Empire Burleque and Dunbar (runs Friday at the track) are both experienced types and the former should improve from his fourth to Construct at Downpatrick. It was his first outing since February and the winner has since followed up at Sligo. Ballymacaw won a bumper at Kilbeggan in June and has Rachael Blackmore’s assistance for his hurdling bow, while dual Dundalk winner Shadow Seven might be better for this first experience of hurdle racing.
