Soft To Heavy, (Heavy In Places)

Formscan By Gary Carson - CLASHNABROOK was probably value for a bit more than his winning distance at Thurles as Prince Of Forwards finished late to get within half a length when the selection had the race won. He had run a cracker over timber previously when making Grand National hope Colbert Station work hard and is still 12lb lower over fences than over timber. If last week's run hasn't left a mark he can defy the 6lb penalty here. Mazuri Cowboy also ran well over hurdles last time having landed a novice chase at Limerick previously. He looks fairly treated as he's on the same mark here as when he ran over timber last time and given that the trip looks perfect for him he must rank as a danger. Stony Grey Soil wasn't going to win last time but would still have posted a fine effort if he hadn't fallen and he looks set to appreciate this step up in trip. He looks a better horse over fences and doesn't look harshly treated on his handicap debut over the larger obstacles. Franchoek returns from a long absence and is a bit of an unknown quantity. The market looks the best guide to his chance.
