Many will look to El Salvador off an initial assessment of 85, and as he's likely to have more to offer on just his second go on the polytrack, his supporters could be right. The chestnut was undeniably impressive when scoring here fourteen days ago but the opposition is stiffer now. Katiola is another that has scope for progression, with just three runs under her belt, and off 87 she could well make a bold bid. Having her first start since the autumn, it should be telling as to how Katiola goes in the betting. In reality there are very few of them that you could rule out with confidence. However the vote goes to GRETZKY. He is on a roll right now – bidding for a hat-trick – and though the handicapper is cranking up the task for the six-year-old – he might well be good enough to go in again.

Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 10lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won. Any horse rated above 85 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 85 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 85 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
