Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - There is more than one potential market-springer in this field so reference to the betting will be all important. Given that he's 9Ibs 'well-in' after a Gowran success last Saturday, Happy New Year will justifiably be popular. We'll take him on with WESTERN MAN though. Derek O'Connor takes the reins on this fellow, for the first-time since his point-to-point victory at Affane around this time last year. The Westerner gelding has shown a bit, on more than one occasion on the track. If first-time cheek-pieces can now bring out a little improvement in the five-year-old, then surely he's capable of getting involved in this sort of company. Ballyfinboy is respected as a last time out winner whilst watch the betting principally with regard to the likes of Coolking, War Of Words and Dazzlers Day (first time cheek-pieces). Big Jemmy has an each-way squeak though connections maintain he ideally wants better ground. Sherika would also have hopes of making the frame on form. The reserves too would have to be considered if getting their chance.
