Cheltenham Fri, 15th Mar, 2024 Stellar Story To be honest we thought he was overpriced, we knew he’d love the ground and he’s as tough as old nails. He stayed very well and Sam was good and positive. We were probably a little bit fortunate that the second horse missed the last as we’ve collared him on the line, but it was brilliant. I knew he was getting there, I just didn’t think he was getting there in time. To tell you the honest truth, I wasn’t going to run him. I was going to run Croke Park in the race and he was lame on Wednesday morning, so I brought this horse over late. I was going to send him to Aintree for a three-mile hurdle, so it shows what I know. He was bought to be a big chaser, that’s what he is. He’s a lovely horse. Sam is a big part of the team and I’m delighted for him. |
Cheltenham Thu, 14th Mar, 2024 Teahupoo He’s best fresh so we said we’d come straight here. Listen, it’s great to get a winner. They’ve been running well, just hitting the crossbar, they’ve had no excuses but to win the Stayers’ Hurdle is unbelievable and I’m delighted for the whole team. It’s difficult to tell myself to stay patient when you don’t have a winner, it’s been a long couple of days but they’ve bene running well. We’ve got one now. This was always going to be our best day, this was one of our biggest guns. |
Leopardstown Mon, 4th Mar, 2024 Twoohthree He's only a baby, there is loads of improvement. We thought he was only ready for a run, but he ran really well. He'll stay very well. |
Leopardstown Sun, 3rd Mar, 2024 Dee Capo He’s a nice horse and there is a lot of improvement in him from today. He’d had a couple of quick runs and we said we’d freshen him up and have him back for the spring. I’d imagine he’ll go to Fairyhouse or Aintree. He looks like a chaser. Danny gave him a good ride. Jack (Kennedy) is missing a few winners (due to a suspension) but that’s the way it goes. The horses are running well, which is important. |

Navan Sat, 2nd Mar, 2024 Jumping Jet That was great. It's been a good day, my birthday and all, so I can't complain. She was honest and tough. They went very fast and it suited her well. |
Navan Sat, 2nd Mar, 2024 Ash Tree Meadow It wasn't really the plan to run him but when the race looked like it would cut up we decided we'd declare him and then make our mind up what to do. In fairness to Eamon and Robbie (Waters) they said 'whatever you want to do'. It worked out great. He's a good horse, Sam said he hated that ground and he'll be better on better ground. There is a race in Fairyhouse and a race in Aintree for him. He'll be entered in the Irish National and we'll see what Eamon wants to do, it's just whether he'd get that trip would be my only concern. We had four or five seconds last weekend but no winner. I'd be anxious myself, we haven't much between now and Cheltenham but it's happy days (today). |
Navan Sat, 2nd Mar, 2024 Instant Tendance She's tough and honest. On her run in a maiden hurdle here she was probably entitled to win. It's great for Caren, she's a big supporter of the yard and that's her first winner since Aidan passed away. We'll try and get a bit of black-type with her somewhere. It was a good run today and she's very tough. |
Punchestown Sun, 18th Feb, 2024 The Goffer Emma has been with me for years. She is a great girl and is one of our barn managers. It’s a brilliant race for the staff and they all work very hard. The Goffer will go for the Ultima at Cheltenham. She didn’t panic and gave him a great spin. |
Punchestown Sun, 18th Feb, 2024 Where It All Began It probably looked turning in that I was going to finish third, but stamina really kicked in when we straightened up. I’m delighted with him. He’s not reliant on heavy ground, just a test of stamina is what he wants. He’d been running well and threatened to do something like that. That’s as light as I’d go (10st 5lb). He could go for the Kim Muir at Cheltenham or an Irish National. It was a good performance and he stays really well. |
