The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased four youngsters at Doncaster’s Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale last week (29 and 30 August), for a total outlay of £595,000.

The Jockey Club completed its transactions with Lot 295, an attractive bay colt by Dark Angel out of a half-sister to five black type earners — the G2 Lowther Stakes second Seraphina among them. The family has also produced the G1 Prix de la Foret winner Mount Abu, as well as Serious Attitude, successful in the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes and G1 Nearctic Stakes. The Club went to £250,000 on day two to secure the eye-catching youngster.

Doncaster’s first day brought three acquisitions, including two progeny of the speedy Millyant. That admirable mare’s six career wins featured the G2 Prix du Gros-Chene and G3 Molecomb Stakes, and she has succeeded, thus far, in passing on to her family plenty of ability and sharpness.

Lot 26, knocked down to the Club for £120,000, is an athletic colt by Equiano out of Fatal Attraction, an Oasis Dream full-sister to Millyant’s best offspring, the dual G3 winner Mirza. The dam has also produced a G3-placed half-sister among her three winners from as many runners.

Millyant also represents as the third dam of Lot 164, a chestnut Footstepsinthesand colt. The Club went to £100,000 to secure the youngster, whose own dam is the Listed-placed Mimisel.

Later in the session, the Club succeeded in purchasing Lot 182, a bay colt by Holy Roman Emperor, the sire of former Hong Kong Horse of the Year and multiple G1 winner Designs On Rome. The athletic yearling is out of Musical Rain, a three-time winner and G3-placed, whose Choisir filly, Patuano, is a 1000m winner this year. It is also the family of G1 Nunthorpe Stakes third Indian Prince and G2 Queen Anne Stakes winner Alflora.
