Liz Doyle appears to have a nice young prospect on her hands in the shape of Farmix who made a winning start over fences in the McGann Energy Consultants Rated Novice Chase at Fairyhouse.
Fri 13th Nov
After their sponsorship of the Derby at the National Coursing Meeting at Clonmel last month, Boylesports returned to Powerstown Park today to back the majority of the card. Action began with the Money Back On The BoyleSports App Maiden Hurdle and we had an impressive winning favourite in the shape of Farmix.
Tue 24th Mar
Groody Rover bridged a gap of 14 months without a winner under rules for trainer Philip Fenton when causing something of a surprise in the Derrygrath Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel.
Wed 04th Mar
Lord Royal (11/10 into 4/5) stylishly brought up a Clonmel double for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend when winning on debut over jumps in the Monroe Maiden Hurdle.

He’s a lovely big baby and it was only his fourth run over obstacles so I was a bit nervous as to whether he’d be street wise enough to go on and make it. He jumped into the air a bit early on but got the hang of it as he went along. An extra half-mile might suit. He has such a big stride and kind of has to make the running. That’s his way of being competitive is to go out and gallop. He’ll improve mentally as much as anything.

He did it well and I’d say the slightly better ground has brought about a good bit of improvement. The twice he ran here before the ground was very deep and while he coped with it, I think the drier ground has helped him excel and it was never really in doubt. He’s a huge horse at over 17 hands and whatever he does over hurdles, I think he’ll be a 20lb better horse over fences. We’ll keep going with him for the time being before hopefully going chasing with him next season.
