Twelve of the fifteen that took part in Diarmuid Cronin Electric Apprentice Handicap were covered by just over five and a half lengths at the finish. Up front Cosmic Symbol gained his third win since June when beating Hatton Cross by half a length at Killarney.

Cosmic Symbol was supported in the market from 10/1 into 7/1 and he chased the leaders through this mile heat.

Third at the halfway stage, the victor was ridden in fifth two furlongs out, and he stayed on to challenge a furlong out.

Leading in the final 150 yards, the George Webb-trained and Dylan Hogan-ridden Cosmic Symbol kept on well under pressure from there for the win.

"He jumped and travelled away, and liked the ground. He kept battling away to the line, and did it well," said Hogan.

"George (Webb) seemed quite confident, and he loves soft ground. It's soft down the back but a bit quicker in the straight.

"That's nine winners for me this year and 17 in total. Hopefully it continues."
