Racing wide paid off for Sneaky Getaway who prevailed in the bumper for Emmet Mullins and Declan Lavery.

The Getaway gelding strode into the lead over a quarter of a mile from home and motored home under Lavery, with the pair holding the challenge of a closing General Counsel by half a length.

The winner landed a gamble from 8/1 to 9/2 on the off. General Counsel was a 5/1 chance.

The front pair pulled 11 lengths clear of third-placed Sunndans who posted a good effort at 100/1.

Trainer Emmet Mullins said: "He is a very straightforward horse and we learned wisely from Danny Mullins earlier in the day when he exploited a nicer bit of ground on the outside. It worked the oracle as the first two home raced out wide the whole way around.

"The run under our belt was a huge advantage and he'll be a nice horse for the summer.

"He'll progress and might get an entry at Punchestown but it might be a bit quick. He is definitely a nice horse for a winners' bumper and is by the right sire in Getaway."
