Accompanist final Flat winner of 2009

Accompanist brought the curtain down on the 2009 Flat season when taking the finale at Dundalk tonight.

It was a double on the night for trainer Tom McCourt and apprentice Ben Curtis, who had struck earlier with Copper Dock

The Pivotal gelding finished with a flourish to peg back Night Spark in the closing stages and record a length victory.

"It would be good if they ran a few extra meetings here," said McCourt afterwards.

"He has promised to win a lot of times and has been disappointing. Maybe running him back quick suits him as he was third here last night.

"Ben gave him a great ride tonight. He's a very sound horse and we'll tip away with him and go over to Wolverhampton.

"He's had a good break during the summer and is in good spirits with himself at the moment."
