What won was consigned to a 'by the way,' after All Good Things passed the post in front in Follow Limerick On Facebook Maiden Hurdle.
Favourite Falak (Keith Donoghue) came down on the level before the straight when prominent, bringing down his Gordon Elliott stable companion Isle Of Destiny (Andrew Ring) in the process.
The news that all were relatively okay in the aftermath came as a huge relief after an horrific looking incident.
In the end All Good Things (7/2 into 11/4) came home with three and three parts of a length and a neck to spare over El Rouli (25s into 14s) and Mag Brady (5/1 into 7/2).
All Good Things is owned by Sarah Nash and trained by her husband James. Cathal Landers did the steering.
"He's consistent and goes on all types of ground. He's fairly Flat bred but seems to be a very good jumper," said the winning handler.
"Hopefully everyone is alright and we'll never know (what would have happened) but we'll take it and we were due a bit of luck.
"We gave him a break after Christmas as he's a summer horse and this was his comeback run. The maidens were always going to get a bit weak this time of the season so it's worked out.
"He'll be a novice for the rest of the year, and the handicapper can't be too hard on him for winning a race like that."
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Falak trained by Gordon Elliott had blood at both nostrils when examined having slipped up in running.
A.E. Lynch, rider of Casadel Sol trained by Kieran Purcell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped the road after the stands when going out on the final circuit.
The Stewards received a report from K.M. Donoghue, rider of Falak, that his mount clipped a heel and fell on the downhill run approaching the straight.
On viewing the recording of the incident in the presence of the Stewards, he was unable to determine whether he had received a bump or fallen independently.
A. Ring, rider of Isle Of Destiny, reported to the Stewards that he was unable to avoid Falak and was brought down.
Having considered the reports and viewed a recording of the race, the Stewards noted the reports and took no further action.
