The Andy Slattery trained An Saighdiur reveled in today's testing ground at the Curragh today when claiming a ninth career win in the Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital Handicap.

Ridden by Declan McDonogh, the son of Acclamation battled well for a length and a quarter win over Have A Nice Day and thus ended an 18 race losing run, back to a soft-ground Listed win at Cork in April 2014.

Following today's win, Slattery stated "he was handicapped on fast ground, and scoped badly last week at Dundalk.

"He has bad feet and I was a bit concerned as he was shod during the week, and usually needs at least a week before we can run him. But the rain came and I decided to take a chance.

"He'll go for the Ayr Gold Cup, or the Silver Cup, which ever race he gets into."
