Arbourfield recorded his sixth win at Dundalk and made it four course and distance victories in 2017 when coming out best in a tremendous finish to the seven-furlong DKIT Students Union Handicap.

Judge Andrew McKeever had his hands full sorting out the photo-finish with less than a length separating the first six home who were spread across the track.

Shane Foley ’s mount touched off Mr Ormsby by a nose, with 11/4 favourite Silk Cravat making a bold bid to complete a quickfire treble for Colin Keane and Ger Lyons a neck further back in third. Rose Anjou was just a nose further adrift in fourth.

Winning trainer Prunella Dobbs said, “He and Carried are just amazing horses and love this place. That’s his sixth win here, and he’s ultra-consistent and always tries his best.

“He got a wonderful ride from Shane today. He’s actually 7lb’s higher than when he won the last time, and we’ll have to keep coming back here.”
