Shane Foley, who was recently confirmed as stable jockey to Michael Halford, wasted no time repaying his boss's faith, when extracting Barrow Island from a tricky position before winning the Fundraising Made Easy at Dundalk Handicap.

Barrow Island was sixth a furlong out, behind a wall of five horses but Foley weaved his way through to lead near the line for a half length win over Knockgraffon Lad

Afterwards Halford said “I thought Shane gave him a great ride – the horse used to be quite keen but is after settling really well.

“I ran him at Leopardstown and he was outpaced a bit but came home well. Tonight it was the same but the gaps came right for him and was genuine and got there. I might step him up in trip now - he looked like he should get further there.”
