Ballydoyle filly Coral Beach gained an overdue win on her 11th racecourse outing when taking the opening Kanturk Median Auction Maiden at Cork this afternoon.

The 5/2 favourite had to wait for a gap down the straight in the six-furlong contest and the split came inside the final furlong.

Seamus Heffernan drove his mount into the lead inside the final 100 yards to secure a half length success over the fast finishing Frosty Beach

Coral Beach had been placed on seven occasions before today and had been beaten favourite on six of her runs.

Heffernan said afterwards:- "She has been a little bit disappointing but she works like a Group filly and I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up winning a Group race."
