For the fourth consecutive day at the Galway Races the crowd in attendance was well ahead of the 2013 equivalent.

Today's attendance was 34,077 as opposed to the 2013 figure of 27,669, no doubt helped by favourable weather.

As a consequence of the increased numbers Tote Ireland ended up within touching distance of one million in turnover - €996,842 (2013 - €840,253)

The on-course bookmakers turnover was also up significantly to a figure of €1,881,848 which is almost €600,000 ahead of last year's €1,287,794.

The last three favourites winning on the day will mean that the majority of the €1,8 million held by the bookies will not have stayed long in their satchels.
